“On Wednesday we finished our Service Project with the Piscacucho elementary school (Primeria). We were able to finish painting all the walls, built all the bookshelves, painted them, built all the tables, painted them with fun designs, and took a final picture in front of our favorite wall mural. The room looks beautiful and Graham, the project coordinator, said it would be a ‘much loved room’.”

“What has been remarkable about our time in Anco Pacha is how our presence and enthusiasm has motivated many of the residents…the desire of these residents to work alongside us to help improve the quality of life for their children, grandchildren, and themselves has been inspiring -- truly what one hopes for in such service work.”

“The land we were working with was once a huge dump. There were mounds of dirt, weeds, and trash everywhere! Our goal for the day was to completely flatten the land we needed in order to start building. The building we will construct is going to be used for the children at the school and those involved with Tierra de los Niños. Luckily the children from the school would come out for recess and we could take breaks to play with them. They were so cute and loved to help us work!”

“We met our families today! The families are so nice. In my house I have three cats, two dogs , thirty-five guinea pigs and one Megan. But it´s OK because I love all animals!”

“Yesterday we arose at 4:15 am, grabbed some pan (bread) and caught the 5:30 train to Machu Picchu. There are truly no words for that place. I am not even going to try but we did take lots of pictures that I hope will at least bring some of it’s magic to all of you.”

“Today we finished the project and had a tasty Pachamanca to celebrate. The kids sanded the playground and when it was partially finished, we saw how happy the children were. We had a great sense of satisfaction for our hard work.”
